4 – Featured Speaker – Sally Fabre – Leadercast –  Leading Yourself Highlights

and Aloha Town Hall meeting 5/17 @ 7 pm

  • Our children are watching  – Sally sat with students from Reynolds and found that students are struggling to form a community.  No one wants to get involved or have face to face relationships.
  • Andy Stanley – Leading Yourself First
    • Do not lie to yourself, prioritize what is valued most over what is wanted now, do not attempt to lead yourself alone.  Work with other like minded individuals to achieve success.
  • Michael Hyatt
    • Commit to taking care of yourself, set boundaries around work and weekend – manage your energy rather than your time.  
    • Set a goal to sleep eight hours a night – sleep of less than 6 hours is equal to functioning drunk.  
  • Jen Bricker – Acrobat and aerialist born without legs
    • Live every day big.  Know we all have obstacles and challenges, everyone can motivate everyone because we can all find someone we identify with.  Use your strengths to enhance lives
  • Carey Lohrenz – First Female F-14 Pilot in US Navy
    • Attitude – a great attitude doesn’t guarantee success but a negative one kills it.  
    • Those who tell you you can’t are the ones afraid you will
    • Make decisions that are in the best interest of the entire team
  • Kat Cole – CEO
    • Check In – set a safe place to talk about how to improve
    • Hotshot test – imagine what a hotshot would do in your position and do that!
  • Jim Loehr
    • Mark Twain “The two most important days of your life are the day you were born and the day you discovered why.  
      • Jim adds – The day you intentionally align the “why” with your life.  
    • Great leaders push for something they believe must happen
    • Win with character

 

  • ALOHA TOWN HALL
    • May 17th 7:00 – 8:30 at Mt Olivet Baptist Church
    • Mental Health, WCSO, Homeless, etc to be discussed as citizens of Aloha to make it livable and likeable
    • County dividing us w/cement – Road widening can lead to sectioning off areas of Aloha,and we want to remain a community by working together.
    • Goal to answer questions and work as a community to foster discussion  

 

5 – Spotlight Speaker – Karen Bolin – Edward Jones

  • 20 years exp with financial planning
  • We have a responsibility to give back to our community after we are gone.  
  • You can pass on your retirement to someone not a spouse
  • A female was recently made the 6th managing partner of Edward Jones, and is the first woman ever in that position.  18% employees are now women
  • Edward Jones is growing and evolving.   
  • Karen is Licensed in 20 states
  • Give Karen a goal for retirement and let her help you figure out your path
  • Business Succession planning
  • Estate Planning – if no will, State will decide where your property goes.
  • College Planning – Goal to at least save for the first 2 years
  • Retirement planning – how to plan for unexpected, how not to run out of money.
  • Are you on track to retire?  Its a math-story problem, that Karen can help you with

  • Aloha HS 50th Celebration – May 19th – 1-5 pm
  • Farmers Market today!
  • Karen Bolin sponsored the stage at ACFM – Rockin and Rollin with Karen Bolin
  • Aurora – NWCA – just joined, moving into Faith Bible campus on Blanton and 170th,  looking to expand immersion education in Aloha. Global citizenship is focus, That comes from being bilingual.  Openings for Pre-K and K
  • Curves – Aloha – Relay for Life – American Cancer Society.  May 19th Clothing Sale Mens/Womens Fundraiser. 7am – noon
  • Remember to Vote!! BSD Levy is on the Ballot.  
    • Ballots can no longer be mailed in, Mike H. Will personally pick up your ballot if you can not deliver it yourself
  • Cross Connect – new business start up.  Digital Platform coming out in 60 days to cover trusted advocacy and referrals.  Released on national level. Working on connecting local businesses and community.  Work with nonprofits (children’s miracle network, etc). Early sign on incentives. No negative reviews (not the case with Yelp)
