ABA Monthly Members Meeting – November 2021

Called to Order:  11:35 by President Sally Reid

  • In Attendance:
    • *Sally Reid – Agape Human Services – Thankful for our community and the 3 men who stepped up to serve on the board in 2022
    • *Don Bradley – Macley Auto Group – Thankful for health of family and his business continuing
    • *MK – Apape Community Insurance –  Thankful for life and family and health.  Thankful he got to see his family in South Africa after 2 years and thankful to know us
    • *Kody Harris – Washington County Sheriff’s Office – Thankful for health, her daughters, and this community.  Grateful for giving hearts in Washington County
    • Priscilla Roberts – Westside Community Church – Thankful for all the goodness in our world despite conflicts and differences.  
    • Karen Bolin – Edward Jones –  Thankful she works for an employer that allows for vaccination choice, grateful to stay busy, grateful Aloha is getting better
    • *Alison Stone – AHS Liaison –  Thankful for her family and her home.  Hosting Thanksgiving and she is grateful for everyone being able to be together. 
    • Jim Doane – TVWD – 
    • Chris Havens – (invited by MK) Owner and Founder of Member Integrated Resources – Connect community to shop local and support local businesses.  Memberir.com.  Has two toddlers, thankful to be alive 🙂  Lived in Aloha just over a year and loves it here.  
    • Kevin Osborne – Westside Food Brigade – Giving away over 600 Thanksgiving dinners!  Saturday before Thanksgiving is the “Super Bowl” of Westside Food Brigade.  Thankful for the life that he shares with his wife, getting to take care of people and how great God is. 
    • Scott Rennie – Schmidt and Yee – Thankful for health, family, friends, ABA, Turkey, stuffing and mashed potatoes.
    • Kimerie Larmanger – Atlantis Caregiving / ARC Foundation (CNA school) – Thankful for connections with Aloha businesses and the responsiveness of everyone.  Grateful for her staff during the pandemic.

  • Member funds went to these ads, as well as $150 for Westside Food Brigade and $150 for Washington county Sheriff Shop with a Cop 
  • New ABA Board Members

    • Don Bradley will become ABA President
    • All in favor raised hands, none opposed.  New ABA Board is voted in.  
  • Presentation by MK 
    • New Steward and Owner of Agape Community Insurance as of the start of 2021
    • Hopeful to find staff members next year
    • Hope to add health insurance to offerings of company
    • Covid and Insurance 
      • In State of Oregon you can file a workers comp claim over Covid if you catch it at work
      • Employers can not retaliate against an employee for filing a work comp claim
      • Workers Comp Covid Claims 
        • 4394 Covid Related Claims since February 2020
        • 81% private, 14% state, 5% Local Gov
        • 22% average Denial rate, State is 6%
        • 3 NAICS make 50% of claims:
          • Medical/Hospitals (26%)
          • Nursing Care facilities (16%)
          • Assisted Living facilities for the elderly (9%)
        • Higher acceptance of claim level came from Private sector
      • Is the pandemic covered under anything but Workers Comp?  
        • As far as he is aware, it is only covered there.  It is being looked at from a general liability perspective, but is currently only Workers Comp.
  • Treasurer’s Report:
    • Balance of $812.56
    • Primary costs were annual reimbursements for costs; Hero Ad; executive services; and website fees.

  • THPRD is working on 2022 
    • June 23rd first Concert in the Park
    • ABA has been asked if we will join in this event
    • Mountain View Champions Park
  • Shop with a Cop – WCSO Communications Outreach
    • Helping 2 schools 
    • 15 families at the Aloha School
    • 70 family members
    • Westside Food Brigade stepped up to help
    • ABA will help with some additional items – blankets
  • We will need to update our website platform in 2022 because the Chamber Dashboard we currently use is going out of business.  Looking to make it more interactive moving forward.  
  • Status of Washington County Chamber of Commerce?  Has heard nothing since initial presentation of change from Hillsboro Chamber to Washington County Chamber.  Sally will see if we can get an update by December.
  • Our Meeting December 9th will cover conflict resolution, how to talk respectfully with each other and understanding differences of opinions.
